Each leaf will be individually made and then applied to a base quilt. The workshop incorporates some drawing techniques and design ideas, effective use of colour, use of fabric paint and crayons, to some extent the use of a visual diary and free motion machine quilting. We will work through the development of a design, transferring that design onto fabric using different mediums such as fabric paints, pens and crayons and the use of free motion machine quilting. We will also look at how much quilting should be used and how much is enough. The leaves in this piece are attached to a base quilt. Other alternatives can be discussed and explored at the workshop.Further information and requirements list

Workshop coordinator at workshops@acttextiles.org.auWorkshop: Ideas development in collage with Carolyn Sullivan
ACT Textile Arts Association’s first workshop for 2021 will be with tutor Carolyn Sullivan.
“When I am playing at home I spend as much time working with art materials as I do stitching. Collage on postcards is an ideal way of thinking through ideas. While generally I have a specific theme in mind, sometimes an idea will come out of left field because I have been playing,” says Carolyn.
Postcards are a wonderful way of accumulating art ideas for future works.
The aim of the day is to share some of my working techniques and give you some time to think of what you might do in the future.
When: 20 February 2021, 10am-4pm
Where: Mosaic Baptist Church community centre, Page ACT
Cost: $95 for members and $105 non-members
Numbers are limited due to COVID restrictions.
More details including a materials list can be found here. For bookings, please fill in a workshop form and email it to workshop coordinator Sandra Obst via information [at] acttextiles.org.au.Textiles With A Twist – 2020 exhibition and bazaar
